Frequently asked
How do I plant a habit?
Tap the + button at the bottom right of your garden. Give your habit a name, pick one of twelve plants, then tap Plant it.
Why only five habits?
Because five is enough. People who try to track fifteen habits end up tracking none — Tend keeps the cap intentional. The smaller surface is the feature, not the limit.
What happens if I miss a day?
Nothing bad. Your plant rests. There's no streak to break, no shame metric, no scary red. You can tend tomorrow. Or next week. Your plant waits patiently.
Can I tend a habit twice in a day?
No — once a day is the rhythm. Tend is about showing up, not optimizing.
How do I rename a habit?
Long-press the plant in your garden, then choose Rename.
How do I remove a habit?
Long-press the plant and choose Let it rest. Or open the plant's detail sheet and use the Let it rest link at the bottom. The plant returns to the seed bank.
What does "in bloom" mean?
It's the fifth and final growth stage. After about ten days of tending, your plant reaches full bloom. From there, it stays beautiful — there's nothing to "keep climbing" toward.
Why does the sky change?
Because the world does. Tend's sky shifts through dawn, morning, midday, afternoon, dusk, and night, with drifting clouds by day and twinkling stars at night. Your iPhone's Light/Dark Mode also influences it — Dark Mode is always Night.
Will Tend send me notifications?
No, not in v1.0. Tend doesn't want to interrupt your day — that's the opposite of what a calm app does. Future versions may add a single, gentle, opt-in reminder, never default-on, never more than once a day.
Does Tend cost money?
No. Tend is free, forever. No subscriptions, no premium tiers, no in-app purchases gating the experience. The garden is the product.
What about my data?
Tend stores nothing on any server. Everything lives on your device. Read the full Privacy Policy for the long version of "we collect nothing."
Is there an Apple Watch app or widget?
Not yet. Both are planned for v1.2. The current focus is making the iPhone garden feel as right as it can.
Can I sync across devices?
Not yet — v1.0 is single-device. iCloud sync is on the long-term roadmap (v2.1+) and will always be opt-in, end-to-end private.
